George Salama, Italian Egyptian national, with 10+ years of experience in ICT industry, has joined SAMENA Telecommunications Council, July 2011 in charge of Public Policy and Government Relations. George is responsible of setting up and executing the council’s strategic business and policy plan. The plan is covering opportunities and challenges that are affecting ICT industry growth in general and the telecom operators’ revenues in specific, such as Internet Governance, Sustainable Internet Business Model/OTTs, Digitization, M2M/IoT, Mobile Broadband Development, Spectrum Management.

George is leading the council's advocacy activities and building consensus amongst the Council’s Policy Board and working groups and is strategically engaging telecom operators, Internet players, government policy makers, ministries, regulatory authorities, regional and international organizations in a way that positively shapes the policy and regulatory decision-making mechanisms.

Prior to joining SAMENA Council, George spent 7 years with the Egyptian National Telecom Regulatory Authority - (NTRA), and was in charge of International Technical Coordination and Internet Public Policy issues.
