For the past 25 years, Gunela Astbrink has been active in disability policy and research. Recently, she researched ICT accessibility and public procurement in OECD countries. Gunela is a member of the Australian and Pacific Islands Chapters of the Internet Society. She initiated disability awareness training for Asian Chapter leaders and has held annual workshops and presentations in various Pacific Island countries about ICT accessibility for people with disability. Gunela led an ITU project in Vanuatu and provides ongoing ICT research advice to the Pacific Disability Forum. Gunela participates in ICANN's APRALO, Accessibility Cross-Community Committee and currently is a member of BCEC. She is also active in APrIGF MSG and APSIG. Gunela holds an adjunct senior research position in the Institute for Integrated and Intelligent Systems at Griffith University and has taught Information Policy and Governance in Griffith University's Department of International Business and Asian Studies.
