Antonio Preto is Commissioner of AGCOM – the Italian Communications Regulatory Authority – since 2012. Prior to joining AGCOM, he  worked in the EU institutions for more than 20 years. He has been the Head of Cabinet of the Vice-President of the European Commission, Advisor for Legal and Legislative Affairs to the President of the European Parliament, principal administrator at the General Secretariat of the European Parliament.

During his career as a European Institutions’ officer, he dedicated himself to create the EU Single Market. He worked on regulation and policies on competition, electronic communications, electronic commerce, copyright law in the information society, consumers’ protection, industry and technological innovation, liberal professions.

He has undertaken academic activities in Italian and foreign Universities. He is author of numerous publications in the field of European law of economics and European institutional law.
