Cintra Sooknanan

Cintra Sooknanan is the founding Chair of the Internet Society Trinidad & Tobago Chapter (ISOC-TT), a former director of the Trinidad and Tobago Computer Society, a member of the ICT Professional Society and has over 10 years experience building Trinidad and Tobago ICT Not-for-Profit organisations.

 

Professionally, Ms. Sooknanan is an Attorney-at-Law, holding a BSc in Computing and Information Systems and Masters in Law with Knowledge Management specialisation. Her practice areas include Corporate Commercial, ICT, General Practice and IP matters. She encourages youth, empowerment and social enterprise; as a speaker at the National Women and Girls in ICT Day, participant at the Commonwealth Peoples’ Forum, coach at Start-up Week and Leadership Team member of Infinite Potential.

 

She contributes at a local level in policy reform relating to Intellectual Property (with special focus on new gTLDs and traditional knowledge), E-commerce, the National ICT Agenda, Privacy and Data Protection, E-government, Child Protection, Internet Governance and Cybersecurity. At an International level, she has held vice-chairmanship of the Not for Profit Operational Concerns Constituency within the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Numbers where she represents the public interest, not for profits, small island developing states and local internet end-users.
