Nuri Colakoglu

Nuri M. Colakoglu has been working as a journalist, broadcaster, and media executive since 1969. Born in Izmir in 1943, he graduated from Robert College and completed his BA in International Relations from the School of Political Sciences, Ankara. He has held positions in Turkey and abroad. He started his professional career with Turkish public broadcaster TRT and then worked for German news agency DPA, Swedish TV, German radio WDR, daily Aydınlık, BBC World Service and as Milliyet London bureau chief. Upon his return to Turkey he was appointed as the news editor of Milliyet, then moved to become the Deputy General Manager TRT. Since 1991, he has been involved in launching a number of private TV channels - Show TV, Cine 5, NTV, CNBC-e, CNN Turk and Fenerbahce TV. He has launched a total of ten TV stations.  He has also served as President and CEO of CNN Turk. For a while, he served on the board of Dogan Media Group, managing its production company ANS. He later became the President of Dogan Media International, working as a coordinator for print media, TV, and external relations. He is currently working as a media consultant for his own company, New Media Company, offering corporate communication services and content production for internet sites.

 

Nuri is involved in a number of NGOs – currently serving as a board member of TAIK - Turkish American Business Council, TUSIAD – Turkish Businessmen and Industrialists’ Association, Istanbul Arts & Culture Foundation, Istanbul Modern Arts Museum, Contemporary Istanbul. He is also a board member of The International Council of Paley Media Center, New York, an advisory board member of The Performance Theatre, London and part of the World Economy Forum’s Community of Chief Strategy Officers.

 

He has three children and two grandchildren.
